Farmers (who grow) major crops such as corn, rice, and wheat, (aware) that new developments in agricultural production can result in millions of dollars in additional revenue, (switching to) newer, (more efficient) technologies.

The answer is C.
B just sounds really weird. Shouldn't it have been Farmers. . .(are aware)? I don't get why C is incorrect?

You wouldn’t say “Switching to,” you would say “are switching to” makes the sentence run more smoothly. Try reading without the “are” and with it.
