I'd always suspected something fishy was going on up there!

I'm worried now, because my dad sent the parent statement to Exeter on the fifth, and he checked with the postoffice and the two other letters he sent with it have arrived (all on the East Coast, for schools), but that one hasn't. Luckily, the parent statement is optional, but I would still like to have it in.

"postmark by the 15th"

how are we supposed to send mail on a holiday (MLK JR)....????? my school is closed; my school cant send the transcripts

Your school didn't send your transcipts yet?

only for one school... im about to finish another class...

they would blame it on the school/reccomender, right? as long as i get everything in on time?

Probably. It's possible that they consider it your responsibilty to give them enough time to do it, and to check and make sure they've mailed it, though.

it doesnt matter when the mail gets there as long as its postmarked by the deadline. go to the post office and ask them, "can you please postmark this" and they'll send it out. {sorry if this was already answered already. i didnt want to read all the replies}

Neat.
No one is on CC. :( I'm reducted to playing with my laser . . . :D

actually, they cant blame it on the school/recommender because it's your responsibility to get everything done. yes, they have to mail it, but it's your job to push them to do it before the deadline. you shouldve seen this coming, but maybe they'll give you a break since it'll just be postmarked one day late.

I took responsibility for making sure all of my teachers, coaches, and tutors got the recs out, but for the administration, I didn't. For the others, it's a favor they're doing for me, but for the administration, it's part of their job, and I trust that they'll take care of it.

they should take care of it. just check with them when you get back to school. if they said they got it all out then just be like "well, then everything's done then. thank you so much for your help." so it doesnt seem like your pushing them

Sure, I will. I'm pretty sure they got it out on time, because it's not like this is the first time they've done this. Probably around 10% of our graduating eighth grade class applies to private schools.

I made a mistake on my taft app....
in the school address area, I wrote my own address instead because they both begins with 25
eesh. would they count that against me? I mean, I could call and tell them the mistake and tell them the real address, but, eh id ont know.

Is it already sent? If not, you can white it out. If so, then I would write them a note or call them. If they understand what happened, I doubt one moment of confusion on your part will count against you in the admissions process.

..if monday is MLK JR. day, then nobody will be able to mail anything (it's a holiday).. the day before is sunday. today was saturday...?? what are you supposed to do? i doubtpostmarking it on the 16th will count agianst you

yeah i already sent it, but i realized after I sent it.
jeez i keep making these tiny mistakes on each app. for ex. my choate app. i sent it out already and i realized that for one sentence, i wrote "be" twice. I did check it over numerous times before, but i didnt catch it and i couldnt ask for outside assistance. it seems like small, but im stressing over everything because well, they aren't perfect.
you can use white out on apps?? if so, thats a good thing :) cuz i used it once.

ive been so overwhelmed for the past 2 days because I got everything done but i had to copy everything onto the app. papers. and in the end, as i was writing them, i really didnt care anymore. It was like a job that i just needed to get done and after, whatever. well maybe i feel that way because i only got 6 hours of sleep altogether during the past 2 days, but did you ever feel like just throwing it away because it was so... stupid..? haha
im just mad

i think only exeter says to postmark it by the 16th
for the 15th deadlines.. i thought it meant it had to be there by the 15th (because adcoms will be there) so i sent them all out on thursday.
but if it says the "postmark by the 15th", i guess it wouldnt matter much. and if it does, tell them you couldnt possibly do it.

i sent out the rest of my stuff today and asked them to postmark everything. BUT remember, if you do send them out on the 16th.. you have to tell the school to go to the post office and postmark it before the post office actually sends everything out (which is before noon im guessing. that's how it is here at least)

How do the people on here get by with so little sleep? I thought I didn't get much sleep, and I get 6-7, sometimes 8, hours a night. (I have a friend, my age, who gets 10 hours on weeknights and 12 hours on weekend-nights.)
I think it's fine to use white-out. I used it a few times. It's only bad when it's used so much the application becomes messy or unreadable.

im nocturnal. sometimes i go for days without sleeping.

for the choate app, i looked online and i didn't answer the sfirst short answer!!!! only the 2 others.... i only typed "When" and then thats it.. ill send an email..... yikes.
