Postponed at UW Madison. What exactly does this mean?

Okay, so last night I received my decision for UW Madison, and I was postponed. I would like to know more about it, and what it exactly mean, and what are they looking for. It said on the page that I need to submit mid-year grades. Besides that, that is basically it. You can add a little bit of community service if you want, but I don’t see how that would make much of a difference. Has anybody been postponed before? If so, how long did it take you to be rejected or accepted? What are they looking for in the updated application? Are most that get postponed denied or accepted? Is a 3.4 UW GPA going to kill me if that was my first semester GPA? ( I was in like 4 APs, so maybe that could help?) I NEED ANSWERS!

Sounds like a deferral. Means your grades were clincher. So study hard and make sure your second term grades are good, otherwise you are looking at a rejection.

A postponed decision to a regular decision application is most likely a rejection, unless it can be offset with a 4.0 GPA in the hardest classes. I’ve seen the same thing happen to family members/classmates for the past 4 years.

Yes I know my grades need to be good, but I want to hear from people that have been postponed to Madison before, and what happened. I heard many different stories about postponing at Madison, and I am not sure which ones are true.

I want to know how hard it is to be accepted from the postpone list
