Postponing the Math Placement Test and Orientation Part I

Hi,

I'm a new Stony Brook student from Romania and I seem to be in a little bit of trouble, more like financial trouble. It appears I'm going to have to make 3 trips to New York this summer because I have to take the Math Placement Test (deadline - June 23), be there for Orientation Part I (July 10), and finally be there for Orientation Part II (August 30) and start classes. So I was wondering if there's anyway to avoid some of these expensive trips somehow? Maybe I could take the Math Placement Test here in Romania somehow or maybe the test could be postponed until Orientation Part I. If I could, I would go there before June 23, take the Math Placement Test and then stay there until Orientation Part I (July 10) but the thing is I have to take my Romanian high school graduation tests between June 23 and July 3 so that forces me to make 2 trips, one for the placement test and another one for Orientation Part One. I'll also have to make a third trip for Orientation Part II, since I can't spend a month and a half there, without housing of course :P

I'm hoping there's a way to solve this "minor" inconvenience.
BTW, even though I'm from Romania I applied as an out of state (not international) student since I have a green card.

Chris/sbuadmissions? Help!

The Orientation folks are more than willing to work with students so they don't have to make multiple trips to campus. Call them if you can (631-632-6710) and they'll help you work it out.

Thanks, I will.

Do you think there's any chance I could end up making only one trip?

I know that you are able to take the math placement test the night before your orientation or even during your orientation if you need to.

Yes, it's possible you could only make one trip. It might mean you lose some priority in scheduling the further back you push it, but it's just your first semester, so it shouldn't matter too much.
