Posture

I've always known that my posture wasn't the best, but today my friends told me that the consensus was that I had really bad posture and I was pretty surprised. I intend to completely revolutionize my posture this summer, so is there any magical advice you guys can give?

Your friends formed a bandwagon, it’s not like one of them was going to speak up for you. You’re the nerdy, uncool member of the group that everyone insults behind your back, and this time, to your face. Get used to it.

Ergo, your posture could very well be fine, your friends just want to insult you. Post a pic of you standing normally.

Thanks for the speculation, and from what I described it may seem that way, but im pretty sure thats not the case. it was done in a very sincere, kind manner as if they were trying to help. In fact, I asked about it.

There are exercises you can do that will strengthen muscles in your back and shoulders, improving your posture. You should be able to find out about those through a quick internet search.
On my Back and Bis lifting days I always walk a little straighter the next day. I used to slouch but not anymore.

yoga. yoga. yoga. its helps create good posture by aligning and strengthening your spine and the muscles around it.

You probably don’t, but if you ever have the opportunity to go horseback riding, it does wonders for your posture.

Weight lifting is a good way to build good posture.
Also, try and touch your shouldre blades, you can kinda gauge how straight your shoulders are by how much it pokes out. Try and keep your shoulder blades flat against your back.
Holding your tummy in and keeping it taught also helps straightne our back.

I have really good posture, which was gained from playing the saxophone and horseback riding. But those are kind of crazy ways to go about things. :P

My physical therapist has me sit on one of those big exercise balls at my desk at home instead of a desk chair. Apparently they actually do it in some offices. Doing so takes the pressure off your bottom and actually forces you to sit up in order to be comfortable, which is pretty cool.

Otherwise, an ergo chair might help, as well as exercises to strengthen your back.
