pot at U of M

so what is the pot scene like there? I go to a michigan public high school and they say there is a lot of pot going around here. I didn't believe it until I found out a lot of my friends did it.

So what is the atmosphere about pot at U of M like? Do you guys make friends that you later find out smoke pot? How widespread is pot use there?

If you want to avoid it, you can. If you want to smoke all day, you can.

Qwerty pretty much summed it up. One time my Statstics lab section did an anonymous poll for pot users, and 50% of the class claimed that they did.

Two words: Hash Bash

When I came back from easter weekend my hall smelled like weed. That was the only time I even encountered it this year.

Are you suggesting that the Easter Bunny is a pot head?

thats great, I’m gonna stay substanse free.

Why’s it matter? You can be friends with people that do or don’t smoke it. It’s not like they’re gonna’ hold it against you if you do or don’t do it.

I would prefer not to feel like I am in the minority as a non-drug user, which I think is a perfectly legitimate reason to be interested in the drug culture of a school. Michigan is big enough that you’ll find your crowd pretty much no matter what.

aglages: I actually wondered if it was my RA. Dunno!

Plenty of people smoke, but plenty don’t smoke. In my circle of friends, plenty of drinkers, but not many smokers.

Dang, I’m glad I went with substance free housing

Out of curiosity, isn’t all housing substance free housing? They don’t have “heroin is okay here” zones or anything. What’s the difference between substance free and non-substance free housing? And shouldn’t they want everyone in substance free housing?

If you want to stay away from drugs and alcohol, Michigan is not the place to come. Ann Arbor is one of the most liberal places in the country when it comes to Marijuana laws.

I wouldn’t look too much into substance vs. non substance housing; I got randomly placed in a technically non substance hall in Markley, but that didn’t stop my hall from occasionally smelling like weed. By the way, while I do NOT smoke, I am not bothered by those who do.

I dont care for it as long as they don’t smoke around me (pot smells like ****, cigarettes actually smell good to me) or offer me to. You guys do know that even carrying illegal drugs (whether or not you smoke) will get you arrested…or if a cop runs in on a group of friends where a few of them smoke, everyone there will get hauled to the police station whether or not some dont smoke. dont want that happening to me. Anyways, the friends I know that do smoke pot are pretty good at doing in secret places so thats good i guess.

Wait yeah, I think substance free just means no alcohol allowed either (even for 21+ ppl). I would hope that U of M doesn’t allow any illegal drugs any where in the dorms…

In non substance free rooms, people who are of age are allowed to have small amounts of alcohol for their personal consumption. If substance free, no substances ever regardless of your age.

My roommates buddies got kicked out of housing in the middle of the semester for breaking sub free regulations in alice loyd, first offense.

I can’t remember if this is Michigan or Eastern, but I THOUGHT it was Michigan that (as it is written in the policy, not necessarily in practice) disallows depictions of drug or alcohol use even in posters and things like that. But maybe that wasn’t Michigan and maybe that wasn’t enforced! I can’t remember. I decided against sub free and never thought about it again. If you are considering a sub free room or you are assigned one at random, I highly suggest familiarizing yourself with the policy and following it.

Short of being around people who have been drinking for sporting events, I have absolutely no trouble staying away from drugs and alcohol at Michigan. If you want to stay away from it, it is easy.

yeah you can just stay away from it a lot of people smoke so dont be surprised

False. If you get caught with possession (off-campus) it’s a $25 civil infraction (basically the equivalent to a parking ticket). Only the one with the pot will get the slap on the wrist. There is definitely no “hauling to the police station”, lol.

Psh. Yea right.

yea if someone else gets in trouble for a cannabis related offense off campus it is a civil infraction in Ann Arbor.

This is so false it makes me laugh. Also, why would you be carrying illegal drugs if you don’t do them? THAT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE lol
