I'm looking for some opinions about how likely it would be for me to get into Harvard. My sport is Alpine Ski racing. I have a good ranking athletically and some strong points, however, I did really bad on my SAT IIs. So here is some of my info and please tell me what you think. Thanks- and don't hold back.

FIS Points- I will be lowering them before applying so not worth mentioning

I have; he seems really nice and interested. My dad is a friend of the old Harvard coach who has given me a strong recommendation. I’ve raced against one of the Harvard girls and did pretty well, and where I am now with my FIS points is just about equal to where some of their Freshman were. I was out for a year due to a knee injury but with some racing this summer before app. time I can lower them even more.

Ask the coaches what your chances are. Ask them if the admissions office gives them any slots and if they will push you. Their opinion is the one that matters most; whatever anyone tells you on this board will be pure conjecture.

I was involved with the Harvard alpine program 2 years ago and I can tell you that no matter how good you are in your sport it’s difficult for a coach to “pull” for you if you don’t have good SAT/ACT test scores. I would say at least 700+ subject and an overall 2100+.
Good Luck!

Thanks, I’ll see if I can retake them, but since I am leaving the country taking the SAT IIs again would be tough because of international testing dates and race schedules

And planner2012, what were your scores like? And would a 31 on ACT (didn’t take the SAT) be considered good enough? I appreciate all the feedback.
