potential bio major?

Hi guys, I’m going to be a first year at UVA this year and I’m planning on going premed and I’m probably going to be a bio major. I’ve heard from people that I should take a bio course my first semester here instead of chemistry, especially if I’m going into biology. I’m enrolled in a chem course right now, but should I switch over to a bio course?

This is the kind of question best answered by a biology major advisor and/or Career Services pre-health advisor - please call or email them, because course sequencing is critical and CC advice is not what you want to base your academic possibilities on.

OP- Is there any reason you can not take both Chemistry and Biology? Chemistry has the longest sequence- needs five semester to complete pre-req. Majority of bio major take chem and bio in their first semester.
