That is great news dudeyes! It sounds like your son is taking responsibility and initiative in righting this situation. Very encouraging.

Best of luck as he finishes out the year and as he starts hearing back from colleges.

Good news! Whew.

I have to think that this attitude was helpful to him. Our kids need to know that we won’t clean up their messes. Putting the ball in their court is actually a vote of confidence in them; it says we think they are ready for the responsibility. If we step in, make calls, etc, it’s saying we don’t think they know what to do.

I really appreciate your update.

" So more than likely two F’s can turn into C’s, at best." - That is terrific news.

I had a D who took too many tough IB classes junior year. She got overwhelmed, then gave up and suffered in silence. (It was not til the next year we figured out there were adhd-ish issues). She got an F in IB Chem (missed some labs I think) and some other lousy grades. She has NMSF psat scores and great potential. The teachers and GC made no effort to help overcome the F (zero in GPA calculation) or other bad grades for missing work. She had also been taking another IB science course, so for a brief moment I thought they’d allow a late drop or makeup work.

I am so glad it turned out ok, I think that the mistakes they make in HS should be a learning lesson and hopefully not a derailment. I am so glad he took the initiative, wonderful mature step forward.
