<p>Hi everyone!</p>
<p>I had a really terrible Freshman year (failed Biology) and had an amazing summer and made the commitment to turn my life around. I've worked really hard this past year, and am ready to excel even more this coming year. I want to be as successful as I can be, and I really want to go to a college that will help me accomplish that.</p>
<p>I'm a white male in a wealthy CT town with a very highly regarded public school. We usually send 20-25 students (out of 450) per class to Ivy League schools. Last year we sent 5 students to Harvard. </p>
<p>SATs: Should be 2100-2250 (CR and Writing mid 700s, Math hopefully high 600s).</p>
<p>GPA: It's complicated...
My school only sends a weighted academic GPA and unweighted overall GPA. Since my Freshman grades were so low, colleges will hopefully focus on the VERY strong upward trend.</p>
<p>Freshman Year
Took all A-level classes. Got C-range in almost all academic classes, with the exception of an A- in Latin and failing Biology:(
Weighted academic GPA: 2.6
Unweighted overall GPA: 2.8</p>
<p>Sophomore Year
Took all A-level classes, with the exception of honors Latin 2. All of my final grades were A's or A-'s, with the exception of a C+ in Algebra 2.
Weighted academic GPA: 3.6
Unweighted overall GPA: 3.8</p>
<p>Junior Year
I'm taking a rigorous schedule, with 3 APs (Lang, US Gov, and World History) and one honors course (Latin). I'll be taking Chemistry A and Pre-Calculus B (planning on moving up to A). Also, I'll be enrolled in a new Gender Studies English elective. I'm predicting scores of 4 or 5 on my APs, and my weighted GPA should be 4.1-4.2. </p>
<p>EC's
Cross Country Freshman year (won awards for most dedicated and most outstanding)
Model UN Freshman year to now (will be vice president this year, almost certainly president Senior year)
Student newspaper Freshman year (plan on resuming this year)
I'm really involved with my local library (100+ hours of volunteering this year). I'm on the planning committee for teen events, and on the organizing committee for a very large townwide event. I've taken on a more active role than any other teen there.
Student Ambassador this year
I'm also planning on starting a really interesting club around Feminism this year.</p>
<p>Summers
Construction work in Sweden for the past two years
Running the social media for a local congressman's campaign this year</p>
<p>My college essays should be really good (since writing is my best skill), as well as great teacher recommendations. </p>
<p>The four dream colleges I have are Vassar, Middlebury, Brown, and Yale, although I know they're all big reaches. I know about UConn as an option, but I really need to find more match and safety schools. </p>
<p>I'm primarily interested in pursuing an English or International Relations major, although Psychology or Anthropology/Sociology could also be interesting. I want to go to a school with a liberal atmosphere in the NE or Midwest, preferably very strong in liberal arts. </p>
<p>I'd also really appreciate recommendations on what I can do in the next two years to make myself more attractive to colleges.</p>
