Potential Hook

So i was reading this article today, and came across something.
I Can Get Your Kid into an Ivy

Basically, it's about a college admissions coach who can guarantee you the school of your dreams (for a low cost of 40 grand!).

"Hernandez advised a student working on a nanotechnology project to e-mail famous scientists and compile the exchanges into a book. "If you did that, I guarantee you'd get into any school," she said to the girl"

I've been enrolled in a science research program for 2 years, and my research has let me correspond with many high-up executives at google (like Larry and Sergey) as well as many big-time professors at places like Carnegie and Brown.
I was wondering if she meant to make like a scapbook and send it in with your application or actually publish a book about your email exchanges.

Thanks guys :)

I think she meant the latter.

Michele Hernandez is one of the worst college consultant crooks. She has such exorbitantly high prices that only the very wealthy can buy her services–and they’re already the group that have an extremely high chance of getting into their dream schools anyway (the higher the income, the more likely it is that you’ll be qualified). So she takes students that are already likely to get in and then tries to claim that it was because of her that they do get in. I’m certain that the students she ‘coached’ would have a similarly high success rate even if she hadn’t coached them (and for those who wouldn’t have made it without her, it’s because she likely gave them all kinds of advice to force them into a mold “for college applications”). She preys on the deep pockets of these people who think that she will offer a real advantage (i.e. preying on their desperation to make a quick buck). And she feeds into the most unfair aspects of admissions (i.e. privileging the privileged). She’s a crook in most senses of the word.

So would this publishing thing be a thing to consider? it might be a bit messy though with all the permissions and stuff. But hey, if it gets me into the upper ivies I’m fine with that :)

Forty grand could pay for some college tuition!

Publishing in general is a pretty strong indicator of characteristics that colleges are looking for–initiative, drive, creativity, originality, etc.

But publish it only if you feel that’s what you’d do even if college apps were out of the picture.

Thanks. I might start to organize all my emails :P

Except that’s not original or creative anymore ;)

Do something that you want to do. In the end, you’re likely to do that thing much better. And that’s how you’ll shine in your college apps.

Hmm I’m a pretty good programmer. Any ideas with that?

^^ Colleges want YOU to be YOU. Therefore, the ideas should come from you. Think about it and do something that makes you happy and utilizes your skills.

yeah but i dont know how i would show them what i’ve done. Like, would i give them a link to download my program or something LOL? I know you can submit things like a research abstract and stuff…
