ok so if anyone knows much about bpe can you help me? i just wanna know if i still have a chance. I applied on common app, and so it didn't indicate that bpe was a unique major. I chose it b/c i wanna do international business and that basically sounded like it. B/c of that, i wrote the short answer essay about international business, but with nothing to do with bpe and actually talked about wanting to do business in the spanish speaking world.

the problem is, i just found out about the program's individuality last wee(i know i was real late on that front) but it really raised nyu pretty much to the top of my list if i get in the program, cuz it sounds amazing.

Here're my stats
SATS M 790, CR and W 760 (2310)
3.85 uw gpa, 4.4 w
8 AP classes, last year 3 5s and a 4
all honors the rest of high school
from a high ranked, large suburban school
Play 3 school sports a year, plus two community ones
Job all four years of high school, school year and summer
National merit scholar, national honor society, volunteering at church and heavy youth group involvement 10 hours/week

so i think that all gives me a reasonable chance, but did i kill it cuz i didn't write the essay specifically about the program?

sorry this probably isnt very productive but i just want to let you know with those stats you’re in a good position for any college you apply to :D

You’ve already applied right? Chill out… the acceptance packet will be in your mailbox probably within the next 48 hours. Then you’ll know for sure instead of guesswork from other applicants like yourself.

no i mean i understand and am thankful i have good stats im just saying i’ve heard that a big part of the consideration for bpe was how dedicated to it you seemed in your essay. I know i’m in to stern but not about bpe. So i was just wondering whether anyone had heard if it’s true that the essay portraying you as very into bpe was a vital thing. thanks

haha and ps biogoal thanks but apparently stanford and duke didn’t feel the same way

What?!?! The only essay we were supposed to write was the common app essay, am i correct? Stern didn’t have a supplement, only the regular nyu short answer supplement.

And mjh I basically have the same test scores, accomplishments, awards as you have, albeit a lower gpa. Did you receive a likely letter from Stern?

yes alustrial there was just the supplement, but there was the short answer about why you picked your major, and i didn’t write anything about bpe. That’s what i was worried about.

and yeah i got a likely. I mean it’s not all about stats though. I did have an essay about how being a quadruplet has made me competitive and such, which is the type of stuff people say they tend to like. something unique. but still i’m sure if you have like the same stuff as me then you got in to stern. it even says on their site that not all of their decisions are made until the 31st. so idk. where do you live? maybe it hasn’t made it’s way to you yet

hmm I have a terrible feeling about stern, but yeah I wouldn’t worry about the short answer considering they limit the amount of characters you can put in.

hey, I did the same thing you did–indicated International Business but talked about BPE in my essay. One of the admissions officers contacted me via email and asked me which one I really wanted and I responded BPE back; at the time I thought that I had just missed the BPE major in the list, but after reading your testimony, I see that it wasn’t there at all. I’m very surprised. The BPE acceptance letter is in your actual packet, so if it’s not there (on top of your financial aid book), and I expect it might not be because there was nowhere you did/could indicate it on your app, then I think you should really give them a call and ask them if it’s still possible for them to reconsider your app for BPE.

But man, that really sucks! Hopefully they’ll work something out for you.

Ok well that’s not what i did haha. kinda inversed. I chose BPE, because it was listed on common app, but i did not know at the time that it was a unique program, and so only talked about international business in my essay, not the opportunities in london/asia. I got in to BPE though so it all worked out. I’m assuming from what you said that you got it too?
