Okay, so I guess because of the way the question was framed, I never thought to address why I want to attend Wharton specifically, so my essay is just pro-Penn as a whole. Do you think that not mentioning Wharton will significantly hurt my application? (I'm applying into Wharton if you couldn't guess ;)

Should I try to send them a revised version that does mention Wharton?

I'm at a loss as to what to do/think about this.

Thank You for any assistance!

yes you should add stuff about wharton. I suggest looking stuff up about wharton, maybe research some of the professors there. You could even find any clubs there that youd look to join. Point is that you have to show interest in Wharton not as a prestigous business school, but somewhere where youd genuinely fit in and i know thats easier said than done. I got into SEAS which is a slightly different story, but the overall idea should be the same. I didnt include that much about SEAS, but i did definitely show interest in it.

Well the problem is that I submitted on the Dec 1 deadline for an interview =/

That’s the real question (should I try to get them to change my submitted app with a essay tailored to Wharton)

Thank you Eric!

I don’t think you can change/erase anything that you have already submitted… but, if you are worried, you could send in a supplementary “essay” about Wharton specifically (you should probably make it shorter than the actual supplement essay though, so you don’t overwhelm admissions officers with reading material). Just get it in before the January 1st deadline (or whenever the deadline is). This way, you will have shown your fit for Penn as a whole and you can demonstrate what it is about Wharton that you love academically and socially too.

Best of luck!

That’s a great idea! Thank you!

call/send an email to your regional director and ask if you can submit a new one. If they will let you send one mentioning Wharton it will probably be in your best interests to do so. I hope it works out for you

USNA, I wouldn’t worry too much as long as you talked about the Penn community as a whole and some specific parts of it, even if it isn’t Wharton. I got accepted to Wharton Early Decision, and my essay contains the word “Wharton” exactly once. It shouldn’t be a problem if it’s still a strong essay.
