Hey everyone. I am currently a freshman at Clemson but really want to go to Johns Hopkins for Computer Science. I chose Clemson because oos tuition was waved and it was affordable. Unfortunately for me, my father works too hard and I can't get any decent fin aid money anywhere else. I was thinking of applying to JHU and maybe attend (if accepted) for the last 1-2 years of my education and do all my generals here at Clemson. That's basically my situation, here are my stats:

3.9GPA /4.0
Varsity hockey
31 ACT
MN resident(if that matters)
no clubs

My current GPA at Clemson is 3.8, so should I even apply?

Yes, of course you should apply. You should understand, however, that relatively few transfer students are admitted and (I believe this is correct but you should check) transfer applications are not need blind as are freshman applications.

Bonanza, you are correct. Something like 8% of transfer applicants are admitted. But I would apply. Your GPA is very good, so maybe you’ll end up as one of the 8%.

Sure, definitely apply.
I would maybe work on adding one or two EC’s to your resume, something interesting that will make you stand out, in addition to varsity hockey.

The deadline for transfer admissions for the Fall 2008 semester was March 15, so I’m assuming you are looking for a junior year transfer? FYI, Hopkins only accepts transfer students in the fall.
