I plan to apply to schools like Carnegie Mellon, UVA, and possibly a few other schools. I am currently a freshman at Boston College and just got my gpa, a low 3.064, rounded up to a 3.1. I don't expect much, but what are my chances of transferring to the those schools?

Probaby tough w/ your GPA. If you do transfer, take an LOA from BC just in case you hate the school you transfer to more than BC. Don’t go too far down the list BC is a very good school, study abroad or domestically at an exchg school w BC to get away from the Chestnut for a while.

I agree with Charlie’s World; BC has an excellent reputation and is very high up in the food chain. Why are you looking to transfer? Is there a field of study you’re interested in that BC doesn’t have?

bump, i really need some more input

You need to work more and get those grades up if you want to transfer to a top 20 school. Unless your parents have hundreds of thousands of dollars to throw around, then you’re going to have a very tough chance.
