Potential Transfer?

I'm considering submitting a transfer application to start next fall as a junior. Emory doesn't really offer the major I'm looking for and the relevant departments are being significantly cut (e.g., the economics department was informed they are no longer offering a PhD program).

What does UNC value in transfer applicants? Is it mainly GPA? Also, if anyone here has taken courses in public policy at UNC, I'd love to hear about your experiences.

Current Institution: Emory
College GPA: 3.45
High School GPA: 4.2
SAT Score: 2120/2400; 1440/1600
Instate Resident--though I think this is irrelevant for transfer admissions
Direct Descendant of UNC's First Student
Previously Rejected for Freshman Admissions (Yes, I realize my life is ridiculous.)
ECs: Sociology TA; Editor, Emory Undergraduate Research Journal; Research Assistant; Overhauling the Honor Code for one of Emory's Divisions; Paid Policy Internship; Chief Anti-Hazing Policy Officer for Social Clubs; Significant Appointed NC Educational Positions

I got in with a 3.76 with good experience for this fall. As long as you have around a 3.5 with good extra-cur. ur set. High school stats dont matter but for you send them in. the most important part is the essay/gpa. dude lets be serious you’re going to get in.

I would have felt silly making the thread if I hadn’t previously been rejected as an instate applicant for first-year admission. <_<
