Potential Universities

So…I just wrote out a long post and accidentally deleted it. Anyway, I’m a junior in high school and I’m starting to look at potential universities. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I’ve been looking at University of Florida and Florida State University (I live in Florida).

Info:
Homeschooled until end of 9th grade, dual enrolled ever since and will graduate in 2017 with AA in Engineering, unweighted GPA 4.0
SAT score: 2150, 690m, 670cr, 790w
Will take PSAT and ACT this year
Varsity swim team 3 years, captain for 2? years
Varsity track team 3 years
Robotics Club 2 years
Civil Air Patrol 4 years
Volunteered at church and library throughout high school

I am strongly considering ROTC/AFROTC. I’m not doing it for the money, although it would help me attend an out of state school. I plan on majoring in aerospace engineering.

This may be a place to start: http://best-engineering-colleges.com/aeronautical-engineering

Majoring in Mechanical Engineering will also work. Aero firms use both types for the same jobs. If budget is an issue staying in FL to use your Bright Futures funding makes a lot of sense.

Thanks for the list Gandalf. However, I was wondering if anyone could list potential universities that he/she thinks I could get accepted to. I want an unbiased opinion (and I’m afraid I tend to be overly optimistic when it comes to universities that might accept me). Erin’s dad, I agree with your logic. I still would like to consider a few out of state colleges though. I don’t want to rule them out completely

Your grades and your test scores mean that you are a viable candidate everywhere - but as you know the reachy places are a gamble for everyone. Your stats also flat-out guarantee you admissions at a number of places, some of which offer your major and that you might like. For the in-between places, given that you have a specific major in mind, run a couple different college-matching search engines for your major, test scores, and GPA, and see what comes up. Two threads to read through carefully for ideas on auto-admits and affordability:

OP, here is a link to College Board: https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/college-search. If you type in the “Search” box the name of one of the colleges that you are interested in based on the previous link to engineering schools, you will be directed to the College Board’s profile for that school. If you click on the “Applying” tab in the left-hand column on that school’s page, you will in turn be linked to a page with other tabs, among them “Academics & GPA” and “SAT and ACT Scores”. If you click on those two tabs you will get information on the ranges of statistics (GPA, class rank, mid-range test scores, and percentage of students in test score ranges) for incoming freshmen at that school. That should give you some information from which you can get an idea about your likelihood of acceptance.

Thank you so much gandalf78 and happymomof1. I will be sure to check out the links provided.

You can also run the Supermatch engine on the left side of this page.

If you could juice your Math Score a bit, you would have a chance at many elite Engineering colleges, and I think you’r chances would be almost guaranteed at UF or FSU. Have you considered the Air Force Academy or another Service Academy? Are you male or female?

Sounds like UF is your best bet. They should take some of your credits that line up and you can finish in 3 years.
