Hi guys, I am currently in my Senior year of high school and I am interested in going to USC. Unfortunately, my gpa (3.0) and grades are weak to be considered, so I am heavily considering applying there!!! I have a few questions to ask, so if any of you guys can answer, that will be great.
- I heard that USC won't look at your high school record if you have 30+ units. If you are currently in your second semester, because the transfer application is February 1st (I believed), would that mean they would look at your high school record instead?
- When will you be informed if you get accepted or not?
- Does USC accept students from out of state community colleges?
- How is the scholarship and financial aid?
- Does extracurriculars matter in the transfer process?
@23152mt Here’s the ones I can answer - You are informed if you are accepted somewhere between later April all the way through July - some find out very very late. Yes, they accept kids from out of state community colleges - USC is private so in state/out of state isn’t relevant, but there are likely better articulation (what transfers) agreements with the CA CC’s cause so many apply. ECs do not matter in transfer process, GPA is the absolute most important thing, along with taking the right classes for your major, and appropriate GEs.
Here is a huge long thread that will probably answer a lot of questions - may want to start in the middle - the last many pages are more about kids getting in or not. I think there is information on what classes are relevant, also check out the USC transfer site. Good luck!
Oops, forgot to include link that I mentioned above to this year’s transfer thread (fall 2016 admits).
