Hi. A thought has struck my mind...I'm 16 rite now, in my senior year, and will be 17 in june next year. So will it hurt my chances of admission, coz, like, i'll be 17 and not adult 18 when i go to US.

Huh? Why would it make a difference?

I feel like aged here. :(

I'm in exactly the same boat as you are, strangely enough. It'll be 17 for me too, this year. I don't think it will make any difference actually. There doesn't appear to be any major age restriction or anything of the sort, at least nothing that I've read.

i know people who are 17 while they enter university and turn 18 and most of them are at UC Berkeley right now so it really doesn't matter

It's not a legal issue.
I've heard, however, that many schools pay close attention to the applicant's level of maturity.

17 is an okay age to be in university. just make sure you show your maturity in your essays and interviews. for instance, dOn'T TyPe thIs wAy In yOuR eSsaYs.

Word on! I will be 17 when going to university

me too.. I'm 17.. ( and i think I look younger!)... :p.. that's ok I guess.. in school I was one of the oldest girls and it seems that now I'm gonna be one of the youngest...

Hah. I'm fifteen, I'll turn sixteen in August 2007, one week before I start university.

It really doesn't matter, I think. As long as you show that you're mature and capable.

Yep. I'm 17 and in university now.

@Noldo: Wow! You will be only 16 when you enter college. That's cool!

wow Noldo!!.... I can't believe ur 15... (Y)

Relax. I am 16 right now and I just finished my first semester of college. The adcoms didn't seem to mind at all. Infact, during orientation they said that they had "one 16 year old in the class of 2010."

Don't sweat it at all.

I have the opposite problem: I am almost 20 now.

switch you are 16 and u are done with one semester of college as well? that's really unheard of.

It's rare I think, but possible.

I feel a bit aged out here....will b 19 very soon...

Mary Baldwin College's has a programm that allows certain middle school students to skip high school completely and start college right away.

16 going on 17 attending college this fall 2007, no big deal....
