Power, Money, Prestige, Respect??? .....Why do we all want to go into business?

I want Power....pretty plain, rather primitive...but exactly why i am going into the business world....... I wanna know why you guys feel that business is your thing...... its your show, speak

Its the only thing that is able to hold my interest.

First you gotta make the money. Then you get the power. Then you get the women...

ahhhh... scarface.

I want it all. Business is for ME the only way to completely reach the top of the American Wealth. As a turkish immigrant who has been here since he was seven and is now 16, I realized only now as a Sophmore in high school that I just don't want to live comfortably, but I wanna live, well.......the way I want. I should probably change my username nowadays but I am already junior member so I don't want to, but quite simply there is business and there is everything else.

For example if you want money, most engineering PhD.s whom graduated from top 50 or so engineering schools only make around on average $100,000. If you want prestiege don't go into engineering because you work to hard to be a pawn.

Law, there is a good amount of respect, but unless you graduate from a really top school and actually good in the court room, you will probably be making around $80,000 a year. If you go to a top school and get recruited by a good firm you can make up to $200,000 a year.

Then there is medicine which gave me and my parents the biggest headaches and we still argue about it. In medicine you get paid well, but after you take away tax and insurance, you realize that your are getting royally *****ed. Your paycheck should come out to around $150,000 a year and there is a great deal of prestiege and respect, but you can never achieve true greatness being a doctor. I mean realisticly, do you really think you are going to cure cancer? Or start the next Partners in Health? In medicine you stay where you theer is no such thing as moving on up.

I want to go into business strictly for certain things that probably apply to most business majors, such as : the money, the rush, adrenaline, and the fact that you can make money like there is no tommorow!

I just want out of this country what in my opinion my parents put in. My mom is a manager at a supermarket and my dad manages a gas station. They work their buts off, but we are still barely lower middle class.

I guess once you realize that you are determined for greatness and nothing less, you can't help but go into business. I just want to withdraw the interest taht my parents put in on their savings, and while im doing it I might as well raid wall street.......its a fact

I have a few great reasons....

My PARENTS think I can't do it*

My parents don't want me to do it

It's NOT A HARD SCIENCE

$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I'm competitive

I HATE losing

I LOVE money/capitalism/materialism/impressing people

Since my parents tell me I can't it motivates me to succeed MORE in business and shove my success in their faces when I do.

Pre-Med.....i like the tone and passion in your speech...... i'll see ya at the top..lol

lol @ ihateCA

Aren't the original factors: power, money, prestige, or respect something from a motivation philosophy lecture presented by Anthony (Tony) Robbins?

They sound familiar to me for some reason.

I want to go into finance because
- it is lucrative
- it is stimulating
- i love the stock market
- i love researching companies and the volatile marketplace
- it's competitive
- i am good with numbers
- i am always planning for the future and can incorporate that into business

i have my beefs with the business (some are noted in earlier posts) but I'll keep my mouth shut about that

competitiveness seems to be a common theme....i guess that shoulda been obvious

well it IS a dog eat dog world out there... if your not competitive, your gonna end up driving a toyota vs. driving a porsche... competition is a great thing because you will always try to push yourself harder everytime you lose to another person. it will overall make you a stronger individual as long as you learn from it and not let it kick you in the ass and stress over it.

Most people love money and the prestige.

6^ yeah, both are rather powerful magnets.

business world is survival of the fittest. it's either sink or swim.

so any ladies on here that wanna do business? most of the people i know applying to business programs are guys..

There are alot of reasons that have already been mentioned

One of my main reasons I wanta biz major is to prove to my dad that a business major is better than his engineering major

If you wanna have sex then stop posting on this site. You dont need a business degree to get sex... well unless you are planning on paying for it.
(sarcasm)

~7_dust~: really dumb. u don't belong in a biz school. join the adult film industry and you will accomplish all your goals, especially the first couple.

LOL, ~7_dust was obviously being obnoxious....and besides, porn is business, rather big business actually.

Superman-- I'm representing the ladies. I applied to a Business Leadership Program.
