Power Outages

So as you know, the Northeast was hit by a major snowstorm this weekend and there are loads of poweroutages.

One of my teachers has not submitted her recommendation (online, via Naviance) and it won't let me submit my CommonApp until that second recommendation is entered.

What do I do? I have no contact with her. Can I find a way to submit the app and have her snail-mail it when I see her when we next have school (in a few fays probably)?

I assume you’re talking about an ED app.

First, I’m a bit surprised, as I’m pretty sure that last year you could submit your common app without transcripts/recommendations – though it’s possible I’m mistaken.

Call the school that you want to apply to ED and explain the situation. The schools really do want you to apply ED, so they’ll probably try to work something out.

You’re right. It appears I can submit the app without the recommendation.

Is it plausible to just submit the app and send the recommendation later this week through postage?

Yes, that can be done.

Would I have to call and tell them? What should I tell the teacher to send with my letter?

In other words, would tossing it in an envelope and addressing it to admissions suffice?

I had the exact same issue as you. However, I recently learned it isn’t an issue at all. You can still submit the commonapp without both of the recommendations. If your teacher feels she can get it submitted within a week or so, just stick to that. Otherwise, have her mail it in.
