I’ve calculated my GPA based on 3 years of high school. I used the table provided by our school which assigns point values depending on honors, AP and minuses and pluses. I did it two ways. One - simple calculation - add up all the points and divide by classes. And two -weighted equation whereby you multiply all the points by the credit (in all cases it was 0.5 credit points per class). Add all those up and divide by the total possible credits.
Powerschool shows my GPA on the app and it’s the same number used on our school website which is linked to Naviance.
I have calculated and re-checked my values several times and even had my brother do it and we both get a value higher than powerschool’s by 6/100ths. That may not seem like a lot but when you are competing for class rank and consider rounding up or down - it is significant.
Does powerschool have a different way of calculating these?
I should mention this is the first year our school CHANGED the grading scales. So I am wondering if they made an error when they changed all the weights/values.
