Hi, I’m a HS senior from central New Jersey, and right now I’ve narrowed my search down to two schools, including Richmond. I’m really interested in pursuing a major in PPEL (Philosophy, Politics, Economics and Law) if I attend Richmond. I’ve been looking through CC and Richmond’s website and there doesn’t seem to be much information regarding PPEL. Are there any UR students majoring in it, or maybe parents of a PPEL student, who can give me a better idea as to whether it’s a good degree to pursue?
Im a current UR student, but Im studying math/CS/music. However, I have several friends that are in the PPEL major. It is pretty popular here and most students I know who are involved in it love it. It allows them to get a more rounded perspective by incorporating aspects of those four fields.
My son declared the PPEL major this year (as a sophomore), and he loves it! He has gushed about some of his professors and classes in general terms, but I don’t have too many details. He is planning on getting either a double major or minor in Spanish (came in with some credits) and a minor in Business Administration. Ever since he declared PPEL he has been really excited about his studies!
There is an area on the website dedicated to PPEL major. http://ppel.richmond.edu/ There is a lot of information there, I think.
The PPEL major is great. It’s the best major ever! If you are going into pre-law, this gives you the best prep possible. Check it out at richmond.edu. Click on academics-major-PPEL. You will see the courses with the corresponding links. If you don’t get excited, well, that’s a different story, haha.
Richmond is an exciting, vibrant, ambitious, overachieving environment. You can’t go wrong here!
Greatest school ever!
Almost forgot. I went to UR.
