Practice Rooms at Oberlin

Question for current students - How nice are the practice rooms at Oberlin? Also, are they readily available to non-music majors in the College of Arts and Sciences? Son is a pianist, doesn't want a conservatory, but is looking at colleges with affiliated conservatories.

Practice rooms are first-come, first-serve, so a non-music major in the College has the exact same access to practice rooms as a performance major in the Con.

I don’t have a lot of personal basis for comparison, but I’m told that our practice rooms are bigger than average (practice rooms, not practice closets), and every single one has a window. Many of them (not all, but I’d guess around two-thirds?) have Steinway grands, which as a pianist are a delight to practice on.

and there are about 150 of them!

this is a recent oberlin blog on the practice rooms, with pics!!
