Practice SAT Exams?

So I just got my scores back, and I'm probably going to retake it. However, all my practice exams in my Official SAT Study Book from College Board has been used. Does anyone know where I can get more practice tests? I checked Amazon and sat the 10 Official College Board Exams book, but it seems kind of outdated.

Thanks in advance!

Bump! Btw, I have also used the official practice booklets in Trinity’s post.

Bump again! :/

If you buy the CD/DVD version of the Official Study Guide, you get an extra test.

Also, if you sign up for Collegeboard’s online program, you get access to a few more tests.

Finally, Collegeboard’s own site offers three more previously administered real tests from 2007-2010 (or was it 2011). Either way, they are recent, real tests.

I have used College Board’s official practice tests, and I don’t think I’m going to buy the same book with DVD or sign up for the online program just for one free test.

However, someone recommended to me McGraw Hill and Barrons for practice for the exam. Do you guys agree that they have good preparation books? Thanks.

It’s not just one extra test.

If I’m not mistaken:
It’s 1 more from the DVD.
3 more from the Collegeboard site.
10 more from the Collegeboard online program.

That’s 14 more full tests…all from the actual writers of the SAT itself!

McGraw’s math section is not like the actual SAT. That said, I do love the McGraw at least when it comes to math for one thing: McGraw tests really go overboard with what I call the “last stand.”

The last stand is where a math question will throw in one final step, one final trap, after you’ve solved the hard part of the question.

For example, in school you’re trained to solve for x almost always.

So you instinctively solve for x on the SAT problem too. The issue is that the question isn’t asking for x. They are asking for 2x or y or x+2 or something else. Of course x itself is an answer choice too to tempt you.

If you do enough McGraw math problems, you will train yourself to EXPECT this last stand on the real SAT. The real SAT doesn’t do it anywhere close to as much as McGraw does it. However, the SAT does still do it from time to time…many students brush this off as “careless” when in fact it’s a carefully laid out trap. If you don’t train yourself to expect last stands, you will fall into it over and over, constantly telling yourself “if only I had been more careful.” Telling yourself be careful won’t help. You have to know WHERE or WHAT to be careful about specifically.

I already used the three from the site, and I’m saying since I already have the book, I don’t think it’s worth it to buy the book with the DVD again just for one free test.

And as for the McGraw book, do you think it prepares you well regarding the other 2 sections of the SAT exam? Also, have you tried the Barron’s book? Sorry for asking so many questions. :P

Bleh, bump!

The next best sources for official test questions are the ten SAT Online Course tests and the QAS released after March 2005.

Buy the online course, it’s so worth it. Especially if you have the blue book.

$60 for 10 tests = $6 per test. amazing deal.

I would definitely get the online course. All told, you should be able to find 23 legal copies of the sat from the blue book, online, and old booklets.

If I were to get the online course, would I be able to print out the tests so I wouldn’t have to take them on my computer?

Yes. It gives you the option of printing them out and then submitting your answers online after taking the test.

Ooh, I see. Thank you!
