Are practice tests very similar to the actual SAT test? Or is the actualy SAT A LOT harder? And btw, how do so many of you guys score so freaking high? I can probably only get as high as a 1900

Warning: I only took the SAT once and I never took a full practice test..i just skipped around and did random questions.

From my experience, the MATH practice problems in the CollegeBoard prep book were a lot HARDER than the actual test. I thought they were extremely more difficult but hey, thats just me.

Critical Reading was probably harder on the actual test because its alot harder to read and analyze in a high-stress environment rather than sitting on your couch or kitchen table.

As far as the PSATs...I scored 190 points better on my SATs than I did on my PSATS. (181 PSAT, 2000 SAT)

i did all 8 practice tests from the blue book. they were as low as 2200 and as high as 2340. i got a 2310 on the actual test. so they are fairly accurate. for me at least.

....dude how the hell do you get such high scores? I'm sorry but almost everybody here is ridiculously smart

I took all 8, scored between a 1970 and a 2250 on each of them, finally getting a 2100 and a 2140 (composite 2230), so I'd say they're accurate.

The reading on the actual test was easier for me. The passages were not boring. The passages were, thankfully, not from any classical fiction book.
The math was sort of the same, but with tricky problems that practice tests had as well.
The writing was only slightly harder, and maybe even the same.

My math practice tests ranged from low 600's to mid 700's. I got a 650.
My reading ranged from high 500's to high 600's. I got a 710.
My writing scores were out-of-this-world, but I got only a 680 because I assumed I would do well on the essay, and I didn't (got an 8). To think of it, had I practiced more for the essay, I would have had a 2100 that I wanted and wouldn't be retaking the test in October.

I know it's cliche, but PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT! In January, I got a 1710 and in May I got 2040.

Don't stress, just practice.

sfboy987: keep in mind that most of these kids are shooting for the top 25 colleges and many are aiming to go to havard, yale, princeton, MIT, stanford, etc...
