Pratt, Columbia College Chicago, DePaul or University of Milwaukee?

Hello, I am currently a high school senior and I have applied to Pratt Institute, Columbia College Chicago, DePaul University and UW- Milwaukee for the fall 2020 semester. All of these colleges have accepted me for my intended major of film. The only problem is I am not sure where to attend. I live in Wisconsin and am aware of UWM’s film program but I would preferably want to study somewhere out of state and have heard great things about the other colleges film programs. My mom also thinks I am not ready to go to college somewhere halfway across the country like Pratt, but I want to convince her otherwise. I’m hoping to get some advice as to which of these colleges has the best film program and best fit for me would so I can make my final decision. Thanks!

You have excellent choices. Also, maybe mom is correct about going too far from home. Who knows you better than mom?

My S21 will be applying to film schools next year. He’s visited DePaul and Columbia. He most likely will apply to both schools. He liked both. Depaul has more of the college experience of campus and dorm life. Columbia was more urban. Chicago would be a nice compromise with mom. Far enough from home but close enough to visit or help if necessary.

Google top film schools. I think Variety and Hollywood Reporter have lists. DePaul, Columbia, and Pratt are on the lists.

Thanks for the advice! I have only visited Columbia and Pratt so far and both seem very involved in the city life which I like. I’m not sure about DePaul or UWM though.
