<p>Acceptance to Undergraduate Architecture </p>
<p>Received acceptance letter on 24th March 2012
Predicted IB Points: 40, (4 HL at 7/6/6/6, 2 SL at 7/7 + 1 bonus point)
SAT I (one sitting): 2020 (CR670 M690 W660)
SAT II: Math II 730, Lit 680
TOEFL iBT: 118/120
EC: Teaching english in rural China, home stay in Japan, participation in school productions, school awards, medals in several international math competitions (UKMT etc.)
Portfolio: I handed one in, but it consists of the drawings I drew in my spare time. I never studied art for GCSE, IB or took any other external art classes -designing is more of a hobby for me- so I’m guessing that the quality of my portfolio will be far inferior to those of students who did take art classes.<br>
Other: Asian international student</p>
<p>Acceptance to Undergraduate Photography!! So Happy right now.</p>
<p>Received acceptance letter on 24th March 2012
GPA: 4.0
SAT I: 1780 (CR580 M620 W590)
EC: Jazz Band, Link Crew, Students Council, multiple jobs, Synchronized Swimming
Portfolio: I am told by my teachers that it is great, but I feel it wasn’t the best. I have a lot of conceptual projects rather than just simple photographs so that may have helped.
Other: Canadian (but with American citizenship), first generation high school graduate.</p>
<p>I’d just like to add that the acceptance rate for Pratt this year was not 50%-60%, as internet searches suggest. I quote from my acceptance letter, “This year’s selection process was extremely difficult with over 5800 freshman applications for 680 spots. The transfer process was equally difficult with over 1000 transfer applications for 180 spots.” That’s an acceptance rate of around 12% for freshman applications.</p>
<p>Acceptance to Undergraduate Interior Design (^^)</p>
<p>Received acceptance letter on 24th March 2012
GPA: 3.6 (weighted)
SAT I: Math (540) Writing (560) Critical Reading (570)
EC: Secretary of AP ART CLUB, (Member of) Honor Society, Green Club, Literary Magazine Club, Library community volunteer
Portfolio: I feel that mine wasn’t too great since it was my first time sending it out to a school and I haven’t really asked for feedback on it. However, my high school’s art program’s goal is to make sure its art majors are prepared by their senior year, in terms of their portfolio. That being said, I have taken multiple art classes throughout my high school years, and was a bit confident in regards to that. My portfolio features different things in a variety of medias (Still life, portrait, illustration in ink or markers, and many pencil pieces), however, no architecture. Oh and for all those procrastinators out there, mine was submitted on the extended deadline date (lol).
Other: NY</p>
<p>Update: Um, srry guys, I’m not actually sure if I got into to the ID major, because the e-mail tells me I got into foundation year and I put Illustration as a 2nd choice on the application sheet (if I didn’t get into ID). I’ll update again once I get the official letter in the mail.</p>
<p>Accepted!!
SAT: 2140
GPA: 3.74 UW
Portfolio: I wasn’t happy with it when I sent it to Pratt, but after swapping some pieces out, I got into RISD. Everything was also done in charcoal or graphite…
Other: Congratulations to everyone though!!</p>
<p>And about the acceptance rate, it’s going to be a lot higher since only about 1/4 of the people who are accepted enroll, so the acceptance rate would be more like 48% after they accept waitlisted people.</p>
<p>Acceptance to Undergraduate Architecture!</p>
<p>Received acceptance letter on March 23, 2012
SAT: 1940 (CR590 M760 W590)
EC: Part time job for 2 years, stage crew, secretary of art society, member of national honors society…
Portfolio: I thought my portfolio was pretty decent. I included a lot of paintings, drawings, and watercolor paintings.
Decent essay, good recommendations</p>
<p>My acceptance letter said only 680 kids were accepted out of 5800. This doesn’t sound right to me at all. Anyone have any input?</p>
<p>ACCEPTED to Fashion design!</p>
<p>SAT: 1730 (only took it once, then said screw it)
GPA: 3.8 weighted
Portfolio: Ok so up until around october i didn’t think i could get into art school so why bother. I applied to FIT, Pratt and VPA completely on a whim. needless to say my portfolio was obviously lacking. I didn’t take any art classes this year, or since freshmen year actually. mostly observational pencil drawings, fashion sketches, and some choice photography from the graveyard. What put me over (i think) is the fact that I did make-up paintings (and went through most of my cosmetics beacuse of it haha) and had pretty good EC’s </p>
<p>Oh gosh this school is gonna eat me alive.</p>
<p>(BTW does anyone know about pratts fashion program?)</p>
<p>Waitlisted
GPA: 3.49
Transferring from San Diego Mesa College
I took a few art courses but not many. I focused mainly on GE’s and completed roughly 36 Units (give or take). </p>
<p>How are chances for waitlisted people at Pratt? I’m anxious… I really really want to get in :(</p>
<p>@hmuzify</p>
<p>I bet you’ll be fine There are a ton of people accepted into Pratt who don’t end up going. For all you know, you could be at the very top of the wait list. However, it is of course recommended that you make other plans just in case. Keep carrying on with your life, take a deep breath, and weigh any other options you might have. </p>
<p>I wish you all the luck though. I hope to see you this fall at Pratt!</p>
<p>hmuzify,
Daughter was waitlisted for fall 2013…wondering if you ended up getting into Pratt at some point?</p>
<p>I got into the architecture program with a 2180/3.2ish gpa. My portfolio probably got me in more than anything. Like wizardly said, many people end up not pursuing their acceptances to Pratt, whether in favor of other schools or for the fact that Pratt is pretty pricey. So being accepted from the waitlist isn’t out of the question. :)</p>
<p>Moving to NY March of 2014, can anyone attending with a FD major share their pros & cons???</p>
