Hi, I'm a current senior who going to apply to Duke and can't decide between Pratt and Trinity.

I'm equally interested in biology(Trinity) and biomedical engineering(Pratt). Some Duke students from my area say that Pratt is easier to get into than Trinity, but Duke’s website states it doesn’t limit transfers from Pratt to Trinity, but it might if you want to transfer from Trinity to Pratt. This seems contradictory.

Which one would be easier to get into ED?

"by far"? Pray, tell?

There aren't limits in either direction, really; just Pratt looks at your science and math aptitude to that point if you want to come to engineering. If you have the baggage of a D in calculus, for example, this may not be the place for you :)

Pratt looks more at stats. If you have good/great stats, Pratt is a good shot.

I"m pretty sure that Duke, in general, looks beyond "good/great stats." However, if Pratt is really easier to get into, then why is it easier to transfer from Pratt to Trinity than the other way around?

I have a 3.9 GPA, 2300 SAT, and a 710, 760 on my SAT II's. I will have completed about 8-9 AP's by graduation. Would I make the cut, stat-wise?

DR - true - BUT, the stats are also higher. Because, you know, ALL our applicants are above average.

Pratt applicants are very self-selective, hence the appearance of a higher admission percentage. Although admission is less capricious for Pratt than for Trinity, your math and science stats will have to be stronger. It is much easier to transfer from Pratt to the College of Arts and Crafts than vice versa.

Also keep in mind that if you're in pratt, then you'll be in your room working on your EGR 53 lab on friday night like I am, while all your friends are going out! LOL! (But don't worry, Dr. G is home too and he'll help you over aim!)

Hey - that lab isn't even due until Monday, so Pratt people can still go out on Fridays, and Saturdays, as long as they started working on the lab the previous Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday :)
