Pratt vs. Parsons? Campus? Scores? Scholarships?

Hi,
I'm new to the forum. I'm a junior in high school and I'm looking into art/design colleges. I want to major in Interior Design and the NYC area really appeals to me as far as future internships/job opportunities. I noticed Pratt and Parsons both score really high in that area, so if someone here has a son/daughter who goes to one of these, what is the campus like? What are some pros and cons? etc.

I was also wondering if they give out scholarships for things like string instruments. I have been playing cello for 10 years and think it would help pay for my tuition. On collegeboard it says that Parsons has a symphony orchestra and Pratt has music ensembles but I'm not sure if they give out scholarships for stuff like that.

Thanks!

I think Pratt is more known for interior design. pratt gives very generous merit aid based on gpa alone i think.

Thanks! Yeah thats what I thought. I'm taking Interior Design I right now in high school so next year I'll be in Interior Design II and AP Studio Art. I'm in all honors/AP classes except for math. (AP English literature, Latin III, AP environmental science, drawing, global issues, etc.) My gpa is 3.8, do you guys think I have a chance of making it? I haven't applied yet since I'm only a junior, but just curious.

i think you will. you will have to summit a portfolio for both schools i believe, so you better start cracking on that.

I believe they are both excellent schools. My father went to Pratt and my brother went to Parsons. Pratt is in Brooklyn and Parsons is in Manhattan. You should probably check out the locations to see which you prefer
