I am currently making the decisions about attending either Pratt or SVA, does anybody have any experience with the photo program either? One of the things I like about SVA is how all I do is photo, and I don't have to do a traditional foundation year, but I like how Pratt has a campus. From what I hear the facilities and time alloted for access to those facilities are much greater at SVA than Pratt.Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

My D is also deciding about schools for photo. We are going to visit Pratt again because we haven’t really seen their facilities (you?). D has taken pre-college classes at SVA and says the facilities (and those classes) were fantastic. She is also considering SAIC. Pratt’s foundation year is slightly different for photo and film majors (and a few others). It includes drawing, light/color, photo, film/video, English, art history. You would be with other photo and film majors. Pratt has more liberal arts than SVA. D applied for honors program to balance that out, but I don’t know a lot of details about that. She received a generous merit scholarship from Pratt, but haven’t heard from SVA on that. Do you know when they let students know? My concern about SVA is that it is all photo, no other disciplines.
