Is Pratt a good choice. My friend plans to go there and then transfer out because of the foundation year. Anyone have a description of Pratt?(ie: students, courses), any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

You mean they’re going to Pratt so they can experience Pratt’s foundation year? Or so they can skip another school’s foundation?
I thought Pratt didn’t have a foundation year, but either way, I think that’s kind of dumb of your friend. Especially if they’re doing it to get out of a hard first year.

Pratt does have a foundation year, although I think it depends on your major? Someone correct me if I’m wrong. I applied for fine arts and there is definitely a foundation year for that. I have two friends majoring in photo/film and they have the foundation year as well, except their electives are geared towards their major.

He is going to attend Pratt for their foundation program in graphic design, he really likes it, and also plans to take a few other art courses available because Pratt’s curriculum is a bit flexible but he intends to then transfer to a different art school (ie: parsons or sva) after foundation year and continue his graphic design major at either of those schools. He wants to experience Pratt’s foundation, yes. then he will transfer.
