Please pray for or at least keep in mind the city of New Orleans and its surrounding areas.

The monstrous hurricane this is heading their way (Hurricane Katrina) is a historic and potentially catastrophic storm that is irresfutably bound to inflict devastating winds and rains on the area.

As it stands now, Hurricane Katrina packs winds of 175 mph, making a category 5 (maximum) hurricane, with wind gusts reaching above 200 mph.

The National Hurricane Center (NOAA) predicts that the majority of the city will experience unprecidented damage, and that the below-sea level region will be under water for weeks.

I was just in touch with a friend of mine in New Orleans who is Princeton-bound for the Class of 2009. She has evacuated to the state of Mississippi, but has left behind her home and belongings. There are millions just like her.
