As someone who lived in Colorado during Columbine and had friends there I ask everyone to pray for all of those at Virginia Tech, especially those who have passed away. What a horrible day! I really wish I was qualified, I would be down there to be a crisis counselor in a second if I could.

Definitely. What a horrific thing it must be for those students... What a horrific thing it must be for the parents who are trying to get in touch with those kids and can't--particularly those who can't because the worst case scenario has taken place...

Just goes to show you that you can come up with all the laws and security measures you want to give yourself the illusion that you can control what is going on. But if someone steps over the edge, the results can be cataclysmic.

There but for the grace of God go any of us...

Be safe!

I'll pray for all the victims and their friends and families. May God help them get through this.

In this day and age when young people cannot even attend school in relative safety lets take a moment to pray and reflect on those that have suffered on this tragic day.

God bless those and their families from VT and look over our own at ND.

That man had lost touch with reality a long time ago...

Its just a shame that there are people like this in our society

Have you guys read his plays and poems? Do a quick google search.... it really is appalling

My prayers are with the families of the victims

so sad

Hey there. I don't post much, but I'm accepted at ND and yes, I'm going!!
I'm a new "Domer"!
My Mom's a Virginia Tech grad. (Bio) as is my uncle (civil engineering). Your prayers really are noted and appreciated. ND is such a great community. I look forward to being a part of this world.
Thank you from me and my extended southern family for your prayers

"The higher education community lends its support
Colleges and universities across the country and around the world have expressed their condolences and support for Virginia Tech via their websites. Read how they're supporting us by clicking on the links listed below. We will add to the list over time."
Why hasn't ND posted a condolence message?

I am not sure but there is one on the website http://nd.edu/. There also was a special Mass a few days ago and I heard it was more crowded than any of the Easter Masses! Student government also sent out this email today...

In honor of the vicitms of the Viriginia Tech Tragedy, Student Government will be hosting a number of events this Thursday and Friday. On both days, students, faculty, and staff are invited to sign posters as a symbol of support for the Virginia Tech Community. Stations will be set up on Fieldhouse Mall and in the LaFortune Student Center Main TV Lounge. We will also be giving out maroon and orange ribbons to wear in the next two days as a sign of solidarity. On Friday we will be joining in the National Orange and Marooon Day and encourage all members of the Notre Dame Community to wear marooon and orange as as show of support.

Finally, we will hold a rosary service on Friday at 7:30pm at the Grotto.
Special candles will be lit for each of the victims of Monday's events.

If you have any questions regarding these activities, please email Student Government at studegov@nd.edu.

Thanks Irish I checked the ND website but didn't notice it at first. I was sure the kids were praying for VT
