Wow. I wish him the best in his return. I would retire if I were in the same position, but I realize my background, financial circumstances, and many other things are entirely different from Hamlin’s.

Paraphrasing a few different sources, Hamlin confirmed every doctor told him the diagnosis was commotio cordis. By nature of being a diagnosis of exclusion, he was basically advised that there is nothing doctors can find that puts Hamlin more at risk for this type of event than any other player.

Also, Hamlin’s rep is furious that people made stuff up about the vaccine causing this.

A cardiologist interviewed last night said that if the rest of his physical exam confirmed that he is healthy to play, the chances of this happening to him again are akin to the chances of lightning striking him twice. I can completely understand him wanting to play. It is his passion it seems.

While I’d also be frightened returning to this high impact sport, the risk of that kind of medical crisis is extremely low. That said, he was possibly anoxic for some time, so a future concussion could further damage a compromised brain. Just a thought.

I follow Damar on Twitter. It was unbelievable how many people said to him that because they had prayed for him, he owed it to them to release his medical records and admit that the vaccine caused his cardiac arrest. Despicable humans.
