Like most readers, I don’t know anything about Wharton other than that it’s really hard to get into, but your profile looks terrific if you can get high standardized test scores. Being Hispanic and full-pay will help you.

-Does your school rank?
-Take a foreign language subject test (maybe spanish and french because you know both).
-Take Math II subject test.
-31 is kind of low (I know some students are going to say they got in with lower… I’m just saying in general…
-“EIHS President ( the IB school, that won goldman sach’s award for international focus, inside of my school, i can explain if I need to)” - w/e it is… it sounds good :)

My school doesn’t rank. It’s so stupid. Will that affect my chances?
ANd i’m gonna take both the SAT 2s for languages, for sure.
And yeah, I’m working on the ACT. I am shooting for a 32.
and EIHS, is like leadership for a school inside a school. it’s hard to explain. sorry!

I’d really try for 34 to be safe. A lot of my friends improved their scores a lot by taking a formal course (ivy west, etc.). I would contemplate taking one of those, apparently they help a lot.

It would just help you out a good bit, most Wharton admits are there or higher. Aside from that you appear on line for Wharton, but remember, it’s always a crapshot, you’re never guaranteed in. You seem great at everything but tests, and you don’t need those scores, but you’ll be safer with them.

Nothing is a guarantee with test scores. If you get a 31 or 32 I think that’s great. But I believe as long as you can demostrate your insterests and passions in your essays you should do just fine.

Thanks for the opinions everyone! :)

i really hate to ask, but any more chances?

aw… tears… :(

my last bump forever on this page. D:

i think you have a pretty good shot, but your main weakness would be standardized test scores.
I would as some have said aim for a 33-34+ on the ACT. I would also take one or two subject tests, as that is usually the standard for some top-notch Ivies (Harvard, Princeton, etc).

For reference I got into Wharton with a 2370 superscore on the SAT and 780, 800, 790 subject test scores along with some extracurricular leadership and APs. Your IB curriculum looks challenging enough, so I would keep doing well in those. I wouldn’t worry too much about making straight A’s - several of my friends who applied to Wharton with better GPAs than me were rejected. I think as long as you’re in the top 10% you should have a very good chance.

thank you guys! i really hope i can do that. i really hope that i can get in ED… my life would be amazing.

well if you apply ED maybe. Maybe you shouldn’t apply to wharton ED. You are taking language SATIIs after all…

I’m confused by your comment nychica, so you don’t think that I should apply to Wharton? Why is that? I just want to understand why you feel this way.
Thank you to everyone who responded! :)

This thread has been very helpful! And “Hopeful 2 be a yankee” and I are very similar! I know 2 other languages as well (French and Spanish) and my dream school is also Wharton. Because I’m only a Sophmore, this is helping me learn what I need to do to become admitted into this school when it comes time!

I am curious though, because he knew two other languages, where would he apply to?

we’ll see man, i hope i get in. i’ll be sure to let you know come December!

But i just got an email back from the Huntsman people, explaining my level of spanish and they thought “That is a fine level to bring to Huntsman.” So my spanish is good enough for them I guess. Any one else have any opinions on my application? Recommendations? Anything? Thanks everyone!

Is there anyone here that was accepted to the Huntsman Program, that I could see stats from? That would be great! Thanks everyone!

I hate chance threads but I might as well say something.
First of all, are you taking…~8 classes? How in the hell do you have time for that and all the other stuff you do? (Maybe I just assume all classes have 1-2 hours of work per night like my school–we’re limited to 5 classes a term–but whatever).

As for ACT, I’m sure a 32 or whatever would be fine. Just show on the math SAT II that you can get over 700 (for wharton) (I had 730 but only 700 on SAT I).

For Huntsman, I’m not in it personally (I did apply but I’m actually REALLY glad I didn’t get in–I have no desire to do it anymore) but I do know several people in it, and it’s not really like you have to be the most perfect person ever to get in. I’m not really sure how they choose, because honestly, it seems quite random. I’m almost positive there are plenty of people rejected from huntsman (but in wharton) with higher stats than a lot of the Huntsman people. It’s definitely a hell of a lot more about things other than stats. I mean, wharton requires you to have finished at least AB calc but the two people who are in it from my school in the last two years only took part of AB calc and thus had to/have to take 103 (AB calc) at Wharton.
Basically, I recommend that you get off college confidential now and not come back (until maybe during some other point in your life when you have nothing better to do, or in the spring when there are a bunch of questions being answered by current students like there have been here). I don’t think this place is healthy (which is why I generally don’t write on chance threads–you got lucky? haha)
good luck–and write your essays now and then go over them every month and rewrite them until october. it’s amazing how ****ty your fabulous essays seem after not looking at them for a few months.
