Hey i just recently submitted the pre questionaire and recieved the results back. It says i am competitive, but i am unsure of what to do next. I am assuming i am going to have to work on the nomination and such, but is there another more comprehensive application i need to take? Thank you very much for any help you offer. If anyone can also give any insights on life in and after the academy i would greatly appreciate that also.

you'll get a postcard in the mail basically sayying that there are all these forms to fill out on the website. you'll get a postcard from DoDMERB saying to call a number and set up an appointment for your physical. yeah you need to work on your nominations too and get in shape for the CFA

Ok thanks i was a bit confused when it said that the application is being considered but said that i was competitive. I hopefully will get something in the mail soon. I am in football so that should help the fitness test. Thanks very much.

schedule your physical exam and start working on the essays right away.

Also, you can ask your teachers to write you your letters of rec so that they have plenty of time. soon, get together with your alo and take the cfa. the sooner you get that stuff knocked off, the better. it's not hard, just tedious.

find out from your congressman/senators' offices what they require and when it's all due. my congressman wouldn't accept anything before october, but everything was due by november.

i know that when i was applying, i spent much time on this forum just browsing through old posts to see what the kids had to say. i'm a 4° now, but i've only been here what, a little over 2 months, 6 weeks of which were Basic! ;) but so far, this place is amazing. all but 1 of my classes are core classes, and my largest class has 24 kids in it (hardcore 2-4!). my teachers are more than accommodating when it comes to "extra instruction" or EI...they will go way out of their ways to make sure you understand and are learning.
as for military stuff...i'm not the best one to ask (i get yelled at a lot for bad bearing).
i'm not an intercollegiate athlete, but intramurals are a blast.

some of my classmates have stated that the reasons they came here were the socks and the food. they were not disappointed, as long as they didn't intend to eat the food :D (I think we're 6th on the Princeton Review's "You call that food?!!" list.)

ummm...if you want to know anything else, let me know ;) sorry for talking your ear off.

Like the others have said, you should get some letters in the mail soon. They'll tell you what to do next. I believe it took about 2 or so weeks (not sure at the moment) from the time I completed the PCQ until I got the Candidate Kit letter in the mail.

The only thing I'd say is don't schedule your physical exams until you get the info from DoDMERB. Once that happens though, schedule them as soon as you can.
Hope I helped a bit, I'm going through the same process right now...

Oh yeah, one last thing, like Missmuff said, make sure you know what your congressman/senators want for the nom. applications. If you haven't already, find out there requirements as soon as you can. I know my applications are due in the beginning of October, so that only leaves a month.

Princeton Review said USAFA has bad food?
They must have been giving us the best of their best for Summer Seminar because I think I fell in love with Mitchell!

i like the food most days.. it really isnt that bad. now, there are a few meals that're absolutely terrible (cough hamsters cough), but for the most part, it beats most other college cafeterias

funny thing marvin-i thought the same. and now i come here. and the food is terrible. except during basic, during which you will pretty much be willing to eat anything.

ooookay, it's not that bad-they have cereal you can have in the mornings and a salad bar at night. :D

they purposely bust out the best food for seminar, orientation, distinguished visitors... etc.

:D

Kinda related question, but I was curious... My senators and congressmen all require me to have my applications in by end of this month (Sep 26th, and Oct 3rd). This seems early compared to what I've heard... Anyone have it this early? Would there be a reason for it being early?

get it in as early as you can.. earlier is almost always better.

C1C Cowles said the same thing about the food in June!

Semper, I have it about that early too. The one for my congressman is due Oct. 1, and then those for my senators are due Oct. 3. So, you're not the only one. I guess it's just different for every state.

I have 1 senator in MN who has the Oct. 1 deadline, the other has an Oct. 31, then the representative for my district is Dec. 31. It must be what the MOC decides to do.
