Hello! I got admitted into pre-business economics yesterday and was wondering how difficult the major is. I noticed the 3.3 gpa requirement and it kinda scares me that there is a gpa requirement to get into the full bizecon major. Any advice will be helpful. Thank you
@ningak5 First, let me congratulate you on getting accepted to pre-business economics. It is the most impacted major at UCLA. Last year, 2015 students applied to this major more than any other major at UCLA. In addition, it has a 10% acceptance rate. Pre-Business Economics is arguably the most competitive major to get into at UCLA.
Since you got accepted you must have been very successful at high school (GPA, SAT/ACT, etc). Don’t be scared. Be happy!
@Itiznotfare Congrats to the OP but I’m not sure what you’re quoting because L&S doesn’t admit by Major everyone is undeclared. It’s the same admit rate for Econ and polo sci and Bio etc. I think you’re quoting transfer stats. Transfers admit by Major. The pre biz Econ designation is only for helping to choose classes.
@ningak5 To answer the original question it’s not easy to declare for the 3.3 but definitely doable if you work hard. The weeder courses are Econ 41, Econ 11, management 1a and management 1b. If you get the 3.3 you’re automatically in.
