I am taking Pre-Calc/Trig Honors this school year and I wanted to get a bit of a head start. Since there are a few more weeks until the school year begins, I was thinking of starting up, especially since my math skills tend to be weak. Can anyone tell me what you learn in the first semester of this class? I'm not sure if I should just review my Algebra 2 from last year or start something else. My dad gave me his college Pre-Calculus book to look at, and i'm not sure where to really begin in that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. If you still have your Algebra II book, review it thoroughly and do all of the harder problems from each section. After you are satisfied with your Algebra II skills, take a look at Schaum's Outline of Precalculus for trigonometry, polar coordinates, and parametric equations.

The first semester is basically all algebra 2. You don't learn trig until the 2nd quarter (at least at my school). You learn Vectors and such 3rd quarter and a review for clculus 4th quarter. I would just go over algebra 2 and if you want, start teaching yourself trig.

We did polynomials, function notation, exponential and logarithmic functions, right triangle trig and graphs, analytical trig (verifying identities, etc.) and vectors and dot products in semester one. Actually, I just tested out of the class; that's the first half of our book.
