I am majoring in pre-computer science and am recommended to take calculus according to the degree-planning guides my first semester, and although I am average at math i feel I need to take another course before it as the highest math class I have taken in high school is Algebra 2 and I doubt I will pass the exam needed to get into regular calculus. So for someone majoring in computer science and wanting to be prepared for calculus, what would be a better math course to take, pre-calculus or trig/analyt?

Usually, precalculus courses include trigonometry. Take whichever course(s) will prepare you for calculus, according to the math department at the school you are at.

Computer science does require strong math skills, since some topics like algorithms and complexity require considerable mathematical thinking, even if they do not strictly depend on calculus.
