Hello!
I’m sure this isn’t an uncommon issue, but I am really struggling with my Pre-Calculus class. I got a 98 in Algebra II and figured I could breeze by Pre-Calc as well. The beginning of the year (beginning in mid-August) I didn’t try that hard and failed the first test miserably. Since then, I’ve been doing all my homework, as well as meeting with a tutor (who is an Engineering Ph.D.) once or so a week to help with whatever we’re learning. For five weeks, of which we are entering the third, my teacher is on maternity leave, so we have two subs who were former math teachers, but have never taught pre-calc. They don’t communicate very well and I’m having to learn everything independently or with my tutor. Still, I’m not really grasping the concepts. I can study the steps and get a question right, but I couldn’t explain in words how it really works. This is really frustrating to me, as I have all-A’s in my other five classes and am usually a quick learner. My question is, what are some tools or suggestions that I could use to improve my grade? (currently 3 points from a D) I love to read, so I was wondering if there were any books that could explain concepts or provide a different outlook to pre-calculus or math in general?
Thank you in advance for any help you may provide!
