pre-college architecture summer school

hi everyone, i am just about to start my college life in sep. I am looking for a summer school to warm up before university. could you tell me any good architecture programs that don't charge a lot but offers a good course? currently, i found Pratt institute a good place to go, anyone know anything about it? or any other better places? thanx for your information in advance.

Cornell has a good one or BAC in you’re in the Boston area

I attended the Pratt program and greatly enjoyed it Although they are EXTREMELY disorganized, the classes I took and the work I did was very interesting and a great introduction to architecture.

Son attended BAC last summer and really liked it. It is only a half day program, 5 days a week for 4 weeks and you commute (no dorms). It enabled him to work in the afternoons and participate in some sports or hang with friends in the evening. It was a good fit because he didn’t really want to commit the bulk of his summer to a longer full time program. He really enjoyed it and ended up with a few pieces/projects for his portfolio. They also visited area architectural firms and museums. Of course Boston has a lot of varied architecture to view on the field trips too.

Interestingly he mentioned that there were a few kids who discovered architecture was not for them. I would say this was a valuable lesson to learn in high school before going through the whole college selection and application process.

Of course if you do not live in the Boston area you would need to make housing arrangements, etc. but it would be a fun place to enjoy your summer and you would have time for a part time job (4 weeks) and full time the remainder of the summer.
