Pre-college issues

Hello people, this is my first time ever posting on this site, so forgive me if I am starting this thread in the wrong place.

I am in 10th grade, and one of the main struggles in my life is becoming college-ready. I have put myself in a good position academically, as I take all honors and AP courses offered at my public school and I refrain from taking worthless electives like extra physical education courses and I have a 4.14 GPA to show for it. I recently took the PSAT and I am set to prepare for huge tests in the future that will have a say in my fate. Outside of the classroom, I am clearly lacking. I do not participate in any activities organized by the school and do not plan to but I do play some recreational hockey, play the guitar, and attend church events. I want to get some volunteer work done this year as well. I am preparing to visit college campuses over the summer that I am interested in. I haven’t figured out what I want to major in, but I have digital design classes and honors business courses on my schedule.

So am I doing enough to satisfy college scouts? Do you have any suggestions for me? Thank you to anyone who offers their answers! (P.S. I am looking at the University of Michigan, as I am interested in their programs.)

You seem right on track! Just continue to make good grades in challenging classes and stay involved in extra curriculars!

EC’s do not have be school based. Playing hockey, volunteering are all good but having a leadership position or starting your own club will enhance your college application.

Just calm down and let high school go. Everyone wants a good gpa but you should try more ecs so you could have more fun. You will be more “college ready” if you have a good balance of ecs and gpa. Also do a lot of volunteering and get a leadership position as @Gumbymom stated
