Pre-college summer programs

Hi! I am wondering what pre-college summer programs in the Northeast region are prestigious, fun, and not that expensive. I'm not looking for a specialized program for math, writing, etc. just some place to take classes (pre-college program). I am interested in the Columbia program but that is like $7000+ which is kinda expensive. Any suggestions? Thanks!

You should check out the Blueprint Summer Program. I went for the first time this past summer and it was probably one of the best weeks of my life, no joke. I think the cost is under 2 grand, but there are scholarships available as well! There are several different locations at colleges around the US. I went to the one at Stonehill College in Easton, Mass. Seriously, look it up. I don’t know a single person who went and didn’t love it! You meet soo many awesome people from different places and make a ton of new friends. It’s an excellent opportunity to prepare yourself for college while also having fun, and looks amazinggggg on resumes! Good luck!

PS…sickkkk name ;)

I also attended the blueprint summer program and likewise highly recommend it. Kids from all over the country attend the camp and it’s a great time. You’ll meet tons of new people, get the feel of a real college, and learn new things from baseball history to creative writing. The price is pretty good and even better the earlier you make your decision to enroll. I think you should look into it, you won’t find a single camper who didn’t have a blast!

We agree and I can’t say enough about BP. However, on the flip side, while our daughter did say she had the time of her life… we were also very impressed with the academic portions of the program. She majored in Psychology and got to meet with admissions officers several times over the course of 2 weeks. I’ve said this before here on CC but I’ll say it again, she’s going to Blueprint’s GW program this year but the Stonehill one was a perfect for her last summer and we highly recommend it.
Wow, thanks so much! I just have a quick question, how selective is this program? I will definitely look into it! Also, ^jake747, I would like to major in psychology too! Do you think this program helps me a lot for psychology in the future?

Unicornrainbow,
I took the psych course at both Stonehill and Susquehanna. The courses were amazing! They were both totally different from one another which was awesome. I feel that both the course definitely helped me. I also want to be a Psych major, so those courses helped a lot. Not only were the courses wonderful, the teachers were spectacular!! Both programs were the best way to spend my summer.

oh, really.I will ask my son to try this summer or next summer . Thanks!
By the way, are there any special summer courses for improving writing skills just on the web during summer?

Looks like Blueprint’s “marketing program” (spam posts) is in full swing.

Don’t know about their program but check it out yourself and don’t take the spam posts as anything more than what they are … spam!!

Good luck!!

Not sure about the prices but I know Boston University, New York University, Syracuse University, Cornell, UPenn have summer programs

Brown, Emory, and Penn all have pre-college programs, just to name a few. I would pick any one that is at a school you might want to attend after you graduate high school.
