Pre College Summer Programs

My son is currently a junior in high school and is considering a pre college summer program at either Marist college or Stevens institute of Technology.

Does anyone have any insight or feedback about some of the pre college summer programs in New York or New Jersey.
Thanks!

Maybe you will find some info in this area of CC?

My son attended the Stevens PreCollege summer program last year as a rising junior and will hopefully attend this year. Stevens is his top choice and he wants to try and narrow down his major. The program is either 1 or 2 weeks long depending on which one you choose. My son said it was easy to make friends with the counselors, other students and it was a great way to get a feel for the campus, classes, Hoboken and the surrounding area. He really liked the intros to all of the different engineering disciplines and he also gained a lot of insight into their Business and Management programs (QF especially) which he hadn’t really considered prior to this program. The Babbio Center is exceptional …and the views are out of this world! (My son said that view is a HUGE incentive for students if their goal is to one day earn a lot of money in a satisfying career in NYC!) He walked away with a solid understanding of expectations and what it takes to succeed at Stevens. We don’t regret the money we spent for the program…you won’t either! Hope this helps? Good Luck!

I like the Stevens program because the kids do a final culminating project in their field.

Hey @LauraBeth44 are you still in the business and looking to get some help? I found an interesting article https://multiplyiq.com/ten-reasons-you-should-attend-pre-college-summer-programs/ Hope this might be helpful for your son. All the best!

I was looking to get some help about my daughter pre-college summer programs. Thank you all for your help answers.

My friend attended the pre college program at Marist and absolutely loved it! He stayed in residence halls on campus for two weeks and took a criminal justice class during his time here. He ended up deciding to attend Marist so the credits from his pre college experience transferred over. It is a great experience and a way to meet so many people from all over while getting that taste of college before attending.
