I know penn has sort of a Pre-med path with its biology department and BBB program. However, what about Pre-dental? there seems to be no other major that covers most of the dental courses and prepares one for the DAT. Does anyone know if biochemistry might be a valid major that could be beneficial to a pre-dental student as it covers the chemistry, biology, lab, math, physics and biochemistry requirements for dental school. If biochem isnt valid ae there any other pre-dental friendly majors other than bio?

You don’t have to major in anything specifically geared to Dentistry – your class selection is flexible enough to allow you to take pre-reqs for Dental school. Sure plenty do but it’s not mandatory.

Yes i understand that but what are the pre-dental friendly majors that most do take even thought they don’t have is my question? and is biochemistry among them? I’ve searched several forums but i can’t find any existing ones that seem to answer this because its all about the pre-med for many people.

Here’s my guess: Go to dental schools admissions pages, find out their pre-req requirments – and then match those classes with the majors that encompass them. Heck, go to Dental school fora and post mssgs like “what’s the best pre-dental major and why?”

Good luck to you. I wish I could help more.
