pre-engineering to CS?

hey guys, I applied to UW for computer science. on my unofficial transcript, it says that i'm admitted to the college of engineering.

how does this work? do i get to take CS classes as my major? or do i have to wait to transfer into the CSE department?

You can start taking CSE classes in the Fall. You’ll start off with CSE 142, then CSE 143. If you have AP credit, you can go straight into CSE 143, but if you don’t have a strong foundation yet, I suggest taking CSE 142.

To get an idea of what happens in those courses, here is the syllabus from the past Winter quarter:
CSE 142 - [CSE 142, Winter 2011](CSE 142, Winter 2011)
CSE 143 - http://www.cs.washington.edu/education/courses/cse143/11wi/handouts/syllabus.pdf

There are a few other non-major CSE courses, such as 190m (web programming).
Here is a list:

For admissions, there are 2 types of undergrad admissions - accelerated, and upper division.
If your GPA in CSE 143 is in the top 10%, you will be invited to apply for accelerated admissions. This happens at the end of every quarter. Otherwise, (or if you are not accepted then) you will apply for upper division admissions.
