So I guess my adviser enrolled me in some classes for pre-med in Human Ecology - Bio, Chem, and another class. I don't want to take Bio and Chem together first semester. How can I change this? Or do I not have a choice?

Your advisor will not force to you take courses you don't want to take. You have total freedom over your schedule. You will learn how to drop and add classes during orientation week.

Why don't you want to take Bio and Chem?

It would save you a hassle later if you got bio and chem out of the way.

i agree with the others. go for bio and chem together. it saves you trouble with schedule later on.

Eventhough taking bio and chem would be a great relief in the future, you should not do it just because others are doing it. It depends on your comfort level and educational background. You will have more time to discuss various schedules with your advisor during orientation week.l

So, even though I haven't received any pre-enrolled classes, I can register by myself? Is this something that you would do?? But I haven't received my transfer credit yet.. So, I have no idea what classes I should take.. -___- Neither have I got assigned a councelor..

Register during orientation week i guess.

About the bio/chem thing, i remember you during the HE meeting that i went to for HBHS majors, you can postpone Bio to sophmore year, but chem depending on your major isn't recommended.

just because you haven't been assigned an advisor yet doesn't mean you won't be in the future for orientation.

you also probably have scheduled time during orientation for meeting with your advisor and talking about your schedule.

Read your orientation packet, it will tell you.

I don't want to take the two together because I'm not even sure I want to do pre-med, and I have basically no Chem background, so I don't want to work so hard in Chem (and then have Bio to worry about on top of that) and be persuaded not to do pre-med just because of the workload. Also, I don't want to have to kill myself first semester - Cornell will be a big adjustment as it is.
