Pre-Enrollment for Spanish

I'll be a freshman at Cornell next year. I know I'll need to take the CASE exam once I get to campus, and that will determine my placement for Spanish (please correct me if I'm wrong). My question is, do I do anything during pre-enrollment in July about Spanish classes? Should I pre-enroll in a class I think that I'll place into, or should I just not pre-enroll in anything?

Yes, the CASE exam will determine your placement. My D is a freshman at Cornell now. I recall last summer during pre-enrollment she enrolled in the class that she thought she would place into. If you are assigned a different level than what you thought, you can always change it during add/drop. She actually did place into what she thought she would, so she was set.

I’m pretty sure I’ll get a 5 on the AP Spanish language exam, what should I expect to get on the CASE? Q+? Q++?

My D received a 5 on the AP exam. I believe she got a Q+ on the CASE test. She pre-enrolled in SPAN 2190 before the test, but after the second week of classes she switched to SPAN 2090.
