Pre FAFSA worksheet?

I just came home from my schools financial aid night. One of the parent's brought up that there is a pre FAFSA worksheet about 18 pages long which you complete BEFORE filling out the online FAFSA to kind of get the ball rolling. I feel like I've found it before, but now I'm not seeing it. Does anybody have the link to this or is this even real?

It’s not 18 pages of worksheets, but the EFC Formula Guide is often recommended here as it does have worksheeets and tables and gives people a good understanding of how the EFC formula works for FAFSA. If you’re a dependent student you’ll want to use the worksheets and tables marked A, which you can find here:

I seem to remember there used to be worksheets you could complete in advance back when we first did FAFSA. There were several worksheets (A, B, & C I think). I have a vague memory of completing paper worksheets the first time round. I don’t think they are around any more. If you want to work through numbers before you complete the actual FAFSA you could always download the paper version then transfer the data. Not really any need as you can start and go back as often as you want, but it may help make things less intimidating for someone new to the whole process.
